While this is the first year that I am growing Black Seeded Simpson Lettuce, it is an heirloom which means that this variety has been around a long time.  It is a looseleaf type of lettuce.

Best Features: 

1) Black Seeded Simpson is cold tolerant.

2) It is quite a looker with bright lime green leave and frilly edges.

3) Typically Black Seeded Simpson will get up to 8 inches tall and 10 inches wide.  While it can be grown to maturity, it is also popular as a baby leaf lettuce.

4) It matures quickly within 40 days.

5) It is open pollinated so you can save the seeds.
