Two-Spotted Tree Cricket

Even though I hear crickets out in the yard, this is the first year that I actually saw a cricket.  It wasn’t just any cricket – it was the Two-Spotted Tree Cricket!

Features:  This type of cricket has a reddish body and a tan wings and legs.  The female has two black spots on its wings.  Crickets are related to grasshoppers and katydids.

Eggs:  Two-Spotted Tree Crickets lay their eggs in the soil or in plant stems.

Damage:  While they are known for being noisy at night, crickets will nibble on flowers and vegetables.

Sleep Habits:  They are nocturnal so the sleep during the day.
