There are different varieties of cosmos. I like to plant Sonata Cosmos near my veggies. While this variety is know as the knee high type, I will be chatting about a taller variety with the same colors soon.
Features:
- This variety is smaller which I like. It grows between 24 to 36 inches tall.
- Sonata Cosmos blooms come in white, pink, cherry and rose with a yellow centers.
- The stems have lots of ferny leaves that are light and airy for companion planting in the veggie garden.
- Sonata Cosmos love full sun.

- Cosmos plants tolerate drought conditions.
- You can pick the blooms right after they open and the greens can be used in flower arrangements.
- Currently, Renee’s Garden is selling these seeds. Don’t forget you can save the seeds too!
- In my garden, I’ve noticed the bees and butterflies enjoying the Sonata Cosmos. Another bloom that attracts bees and butterflies is Pacific Beauty Calendula. This variety comes in multiple color choices too.
