Everyone has their favorite seed starting medium. I thought it was time to share mine!
I have been using Eco-Co Coir Seed Starting Mix from Gardener’s Supply Company for quite a few years. It is made from discarded and recycled coconut husks.
The cool thing is that it comes in a block. You place the block in a bucket or tub and add 4 quarts of warm water. After 10 minutes, you break up any clumps. After the seedlings have their first set of true leaves, you can start using some plant food.
While I tried a knock off brand (honesty is the best policy!), it did not match up to this product. According to their website, the Eco-Co Coir undergoes a process to remove salts and to balance the pH for optimal plant growth. Also, Eco-Co Coir has good water retention.
I find that the germination rate is very good with this product.
Last year I shared a lot about my grow room. For instance, my last post about the grow room focused on the Potting Table and Shelves.
