Edible Bloom Seed Ideas

Seed Ideas for Edible Blooms

I love to look at flowers, but I typically don’t eat them.   I do like flowers as garnishes and floating in a cocktail! If you are interested, there are quite a few flowers that are edible.

While I think that Botanical Interests, Baker Creek Rare Seeds and Burpee have the best flower seed selections, you can do a search for edible flowers on Botanicals Interest’s website. Here are the edible flowers that show up in the search: Bachelor’s Buttons, Calendulas, Dahlias, Hollyhocks, Hyssop, Marigolds, Nasturtium, Pansies and Violas.

If you want a mix packet of edible flowers that includes some herbs and greens, then check out Edible Beauties Flower Mix from Botanical Interests which includes:  Arugula, Bachelor’s Button, Basil, Borage, Calendula, Chives, Fennel, Johnny Jump Up/Viola, Nasturtium, Radish and Signet Marigold.  This is good to know when your radishes and arugula bolt with the summer heat, you can eat the flowers!

Folks add edible flowers to salads, soups, herb butter, beverages, cocktails and cooked dishes.  Don’t forget that many of the edible flowers also attract pollinators!  Bonus!

You should always do some research before eating flowers because some  are poisonous. Yikes!
