Oak Leaf Lettuce

Red and Green Oak Leaf Lettuce make a great pair!

Oak Leaf Lettuce is a loose leaf type of lettuce like Salad Bowl Lettuce.

Best Features:

1) Oak Leaf Lettuce is frost tolerant so you can sow the seeds in early spring.  It is also somewhat heat tolerant so the leaves resist getting bitter.

2) The leaves are shaped like oak tree leaves.

3) The leaves are green or red.  The red oak leaf actually has a combination of red and green on the leaves. I purchased a seed packet that has both colors in it from Botanical Interests.

4) Typically Oak Leaf Lettuce will get up to 7″ tall and 6″ wide.

5) It matures in about 40 days.  While it can be grown to maturity, it is also popular as a baby leaf lettuce.

6) Oak Leaf is open pollinated so you can save the seeds.
