You might see the Mallow Plant Family called the Hibiscus Family or by the formal name Malvaceae. Just like the Grass Plant Family, there is only one veggie member. See below for some of the members of the Mallow Plant Family:
Veggies: okra
Blooms: hibiscus, rose of sharon, hollyhock, mallow and cotton
Herbs: marshmallow
Similarities:  The funnel shaped flowers have five separate petals with stamen surrounding the pistil in the middle. Crush any part of the plant and you will be slimed! These plants prefer the heat of summer. These plants are low maintenance so if you give them any plant food, I would go with balanced plant food.
Differences: While the fruit of okra is edible, the roots of mallows are used to make marshmallows and the bloom of cotton is used to make cotton balls. I can’t think of any other differences right now!
