French Red Garlic is the only softneck type of garlic that I am growing. It is from the artichoke family. If you recall there are two main softneck families. Each bulb has up to 10 cloves and stores for as long as 8 months if properly cured.
The flavor is a hot one! French Red Garlic works well with vegetables and mashed potatoes.
I planted 12 cloves of French Red Garlic which I purchased from Enon Valley.
Overall, my garlic patch is very international this year. Not only am I growing one variety from France, I am growing Spanish Roja from Spain, Italian Red and Music from Italy and Chesnok from the Republic of Georgia.
