Types of Peas

There are three different types of peas:

English or Shell Peas:  These peas are shelled which means that you don’t eat the shells or pods when mature.

Snap or Sugar Snap Peas:   Snap peas are smaller than English Peas.  Also, the peas and the pods are edible.  The pods are rounded and thicker than snow peas.  Snap peas are a cross between English and Snow Peas.

Snow Peas:  Like Snap Peas, the peas and pods are edible.  The peas are very small and the pods are flat and thin.  

Peas, Snap Peas and Snow Peas are in the Pod category and are members of the Legume Family.
