We previously reviewed some spring radish seed ideas. Now its time to cover the winter radishes.
If you like white daikon radishes , then check out:
Miyashige White – this variety will grow to be 12 to 18 inches long.
Japanese Minowase – make sure your raised bed is tall enough because these daikons will reach up to 24 inches long.
The following are watermelon radishes that are reddish pink inside:
Mantanghong Watermelon – this variety will get up to 3 inches round
Chinese Red Meat – this one is similar to the watermelon radish but it is oblong.
Here are some other color options:
Black Spanish – this one is also called Noir Gros Round d’Hiver and is spicy.
China Rose – this variety looks like a typical radish (red skin with white flesh) but it grows up to 8 inches long.
Pusa Jamuni – this one has light purple skin and flesh.
Pusa Gulabi – this variety is pink inside and out.
Chinese Shawo Fruit – it is said to have a pear like taste.
Japanese Wasabi – this one is green and clears the sinuses! I included this one on the Seed Ideas for Spring Radishes too. If you grow it in the spring, it will be spicy. If it matures in late fall it will be milder.
Red Beauty – this variety is red inside and out.
In my opinion, Baker Creek has the best choices for winter radishes.
