If you want to grow a perennial green, then try growing radicchio. The colors of radicchio get more intense in the cool weather. Here are some seed ideas:
Palla Rossa Mavrik – this one has a white stem and red leaves and grows in a ball shape.
Braci Ardenti – has the same coloring as Palla Rossa but grows upright.
Rouge de Verona – has rouge or red leaves.
Rosa Scarlatta – has white leave with rose speckles.
Castelfranco Radicchio – another variety with speckled leaves – love it!
Virtus FI – this hybrid has pale green leaves on the outside and yellow leaves on the inside with white stems.
You can find these seeds at Baker Creek, Botanical Interests, High Mowing Seeds and/or MIGardener. I recently shared some seed ideas for swiss chard.
