Did you know that there are more varieties of marigolds than the ones found at your local plant nursery each summer? While my favorite marigolds are Signets, I think I might have to try growing Spinning Wheels.
Seed Ideas:
First I want to share some marigold seed mixes that I found at Botanical Interests, Renee’s Seeds and Rare Seeds.
Gem Blend Signet – this blend grows to about 12 inches tall and has red, orange and yellow single petal blooms.
Favourite Blend French – this one has gold, yellow, red and and bicolor red and yellow single blooms.
Crackerjack Mix – this blend as layers of petals in red, orange and yellow.
Giant Bouquet – this blend has large blooms in orange and yellow.
Spinning Wheels – this variety is very unique as it has short-petaled centers with a fringe of longer curled petals in orange and yellow.
Here are some cool single flower choice:
Pinwheel – each bloom has red and yellow stripes. I found this one on High Mowing Seeds:
Red Metamorph – this variety has yellow centers with red petals and can be found on Botanical Interests.
Previously, I shared some Seed Ideas for Cosmos.
