Safflower Bird Seed

While it took the cardinals a while to appreciate safflower seeds, they are consistently coming around to enjoy these white little treats.

Features:

1) Safflower seeds attracts the following birds:  cardinals, chickadees, titmice, finches, grosbeaks and downy woodpeckers.

2) This type of seed deters blackbirds, grackles, starlings, and squirrels.  These birds have soft beaks and don’t like the hard shells.

3) Safflower seeds are high in fiber, fat and protein.

4) When you first start using safflower seeds, you may need to trick the cardinals by mixing in some sunflower seeds.  It took them a few weeks, but they got the hang of it.
