Confession time: I am not growing any magnolia trees but I love to admire them each Spring.  They seem to be the first tree to bloom in the area so they give us hope that it will be warm soon and that Spring is really here. The pink blooms are beautiful! The petals are beautiful on the tree and when cover the ground in a sea of pink (see the pic above).
This tree is hardy in zones 5 through 9. It can grow up to 20 feet high and 50 feet wide and likes to be in full sun.  So if you are growing a Magnolia tree, you have to give it room to branch out. It likes moist and acidic soil and the ground should drain well – no soggy bogs for this tree!
In the area I walk my dog there are three pink magnolia trees so I thought I would share the pictures that I took last week on my walk. Hope they inspire you to plant a tree.
