The official and long name for the Morning Glory Plant Family is Convolvulaceae.
You can usually identify plants in this family based on the flower that looks similar to the morning glory flower. While I am not going to list every member, I will give you the highlights.
Veggies:Â Â sweet potatoes
Blooms:Â morning glory, moonflowers and ornamental sweet potato vines
Similarities: Here are some features that some of the members of the morning glory family have: heart shaped leaves, funnel shaped flowers, tuberous roots and vining plants. You can train these plants to grow up a trellis. Also, these plants are warm season so they like the heat of summer.
Differences: While the morning glory flower grows well from seeds, the other two flowers grow well from cuttings rooted in water. While the blooms listed above grow best with a well balanced plant food, sweet potatoes will benefit with more phosphorus.
