Gifts for Herb Lovers

Do you need help with a stocking stuffer or a gift for someone that loves herbs?  If you ever spent money on fresh herbs at the grocery store, you know they don’t last long. What you spend on a small fresh herb packet, you could buy a starter plant and have lots more of the same herb.  Depending on where you live and what season it is, most herbs grow better outside but that doesn’t mean you can’t be successful inside.   Here is my top ten herb list for someone special. . .

Top Ten List:

1) Herb Seeds or Seedlings – basil, dill, parsley, oregano, cilantro, rosemary, thyme, mint, etc.

2) Windowsill Herb Planters – make sure that the herb container has drainage holes with a tray or is self watering.  The object is to make sure that the herbs don’t sit in water.

3) Grow Lights – sometimes sunlight needs some help in the winter.

4) Watering Can – herbs need moisture too!

5) Herb Scissors – these scissors have five blades on each side and make cutting soft herbs like chives and parsley so easy and quick.

6) Herb Cubes Trays – a food safe silicon cube tray.  This will help you freeze your herbs in olive oil, butter, or water.

7) Herb Drying Rack or a Dehydrator

8) Herb Stripper – it sounds naughty but it is helpful to remove the leaves from woody herbs like thyme and rosemary.

9) Herb Artwork – I love my kitchen artwork.

10) Herb Books –  cooking with herbs and how to use medicinal herbs.

Don’t forget about your hummingbird lovers too!
