Follow-Up Friday – Peas and Beans

While it is getting to hot for the regular plump peas, the sugar snaps are kicking into high gear.   Since the sugar snap vine is not as dense as the green bean vine, I am growing two sugar snap vines per pole.    This trellis is a square with 8 poles so  you guessed it – I am growing 16 sugar snaps vines.  See my blog titled “Peas – Shell or Snap” for more details.

Look how much thicker the vines are for the green beans are which is why I am only growing 8 on the same trellis.    Don’t forget that I am growing three varieties of green beans.  Do a search for Green and Purple Pole Beans to get the details on the varieties.

While I think it is starting to get too hot for the fava beans, they are still growing.  I am not complaining!  See the “Fabulous Fava Bean” post for more information.  Stay tuned for an update on Harvesting and Storing Fava Beans.
