Getting excited about spring, summer and full on gardening!
The first day of spring is today, March 20, 2022. Today is also known as the spring equinox which means that we finally got 12 hours of daylight which is excellent for growing blooms, vegetables, fruit, and herbs.
Spring is great for cool season plants like spring blooming bulbs such as daffodils, hyacinths and tulips and some flowers grown from seed like violas and pansies. Also, there are a lot of veggies that are cool season lovers like the members of the brassica family and ones in the categories of roots, bulbs and greens.
Spring inside the grow room is a pretty busy time for most gardeners.  It’s time to get a head start on germinating seeds and growing seedlings for the warm season veggies, herbs and blooms.
While I want to savor spring as long as I can, don’t forget that the first day of summer is right around the corner on June 21, 2022.
