In addition to Dutch Yellow Shallots, I also grow Dutch (or Holland) Red Shallots.
Features:
1) Since this variety can withstand freezes, these shallots do quite well being planted in the fall.
2) Each Dutch Red Shallot bulb will produce between 6 and 12 shallots. Typically, I will get about 8 or 9 in a cluster.
3) The wrappers on the bulb are a coppery red.
4) The skin is a light purple red color.
5) Each Dutch Red Shallot bulb can reach up to 4 inches wide.
6) These gourmet shallots have such a mild and sweet onion flavor.
7) They store well too! If stored in a cool and dark location, they can store for a year or more.
Dutch Red Shallots are milder than Red Amposta Onions.
