Dehydrate Tomatoes

Dehydrate Cherry Tomatoes

Since I typically grow 6 vining cherry tomatoes, I usually have lot of them.  Besides using cherry tomatoes as a bite size snack or on a salad, I found the perfect way to store them by doing a little research on Pinterest.  Dehydrated cherry tomatoes are sweet enough to make a yummy snack without other ingredients.

Prep Work for Storing:

1) Remove any stems off the top of the cherry tomatoes.

2) Rinse and let the cherry tomatoes dry.

3) Cut them in half and place them skin side down on the dehydrating tray.  Keep the seeds and juice in them.

4) I used the dehydrating option on my air fryer and dehydrated them at 120 degrees for at least eight hours.  Once you figure out the desired texture, temperature and number of hours, you can dehydrate them overnight.  Since I thought they would dehydrate much faster then they did, I didn’t do my first batch overnight!

5) Vacuum seal the dehydrated cherry tomatoes.

6) Store them in a cool and dark location like a pantry for up to six months.  Keep an eye on them to make sure there is no mold which is what happens if all the moisture isn’t out of them – yikes!  Other options are to put them in the refrigerator or freezer so they can last about one year.

We are busy storing peppers too!  Last year, I shared some thoughts on storing jalapenos and poblanos.
