Deer and Rabbit Repellent

If you have any problems with deer or rabbits eating your plants, you might want to consider using a fence or a deer repellent called Liquid Fence.

Features:

1) While I have my vegetable and berry gardens protected with fence, I don’t want to use that option in the front yard so I use Liquid Fence.  Don’t forget that some plants may be deer resistant and some may be rabbit resistant and some may be both or none at all.  I don’t take any chances, I spray all of my plants except the ones behind the fence.

2) According to their label, the spray is made from all natural plant oils.  Some of the stinky ingredients include egg, garlic and thyme.

3) It is a little cheaper if you buy the concentrate and make your own spray.  Keep in mind that you should do it outdoors because the smell inside your home may be too much to bear!

4) Follow the directions and apply a few times once a week for about three weeks and then apply once a month.

5) The key is to apply at night in the warm weather and avoid spraying the flowers so you don’t get it on any beneficial bugs.

6) I apply it year-round because the animals are even hungrier during the winter.  One plant that the rabbits like to go after all year long in my yard are the coral bells.

7) This product is rain resistant.

8)  As noted above, it is stinky but the smell will go away after about a day for humans.  Don’t worry, the deer and rabbits will still smell it!
