I received some cool gardening related gifts for Christmas. One is a bay leaf wreath. My wreath came from the McFadden Family Vineyard & Farm. The wreath is made from organic bay leaves.
It stays fresh looking for about two weeks. You can lightly mist it with water. The best place to hang it is somewhere out of direct sunlight and away from extreme heat or cold temperatures. If you have pets, put your bay leaf wreath up high as bay is toxic to animals.
As in the photo above, it stays good looking when it is drying too! This is the gift that keeps on giving as you can pull some dried bay leaves to share with your family and friends. Make sure to store the dried leaves in an airtight container. It will taste so yummy in a soup or slow cooked dishes.
While you can find seeds for most herbs like chives and sage, I have only seen bay plants (not seeds) to purchase from a nursery. I might have to try growing a bay plant this year!
