When the All Blue potatoes arrived in late April from High Mowing Seeds, they were already sprouting so I planted them in early May in grow bags. See my recent post on how to Plant and Grow Seed Potatoes. One step I didn’t do initially was put a hoop and a cover over them to keep out the pests. It didn’t take me long to correct this error.
This potato is blue/purple on the inside and the outside and is an heirloom. As listed in High Mowing’s comparison chart, All Blue is an late season variety. Keep in mind that the color will fade a bit when it is cooked.
My All Blues matured in late July. I used mine to make mashed potatoes for some purple monster mash!
I previously grew another blue/purple potato called Purple Majesty. I liked this variety as well.
