Showy Pink Primrose

Primrose

The Showy Pink Primrose has a pale pink flower and a pale yellow middle.   The butterflies really love this flower.  It is a Zone 4 plant which means it will tolerate the cold.

While the plant tag indicates that it is a mounding perennial that grows between 12 inches high and wide.  I would say it spreads not mounds.  It can be invasive so be careful where you plant it.   I planted it along my driveway so I just let it grow along the border.   While the word invasive may scare you away, please note that the strays are easy to pull out of the ground.

Once the plant is established it will tolerate dry conditions.  The plant tag says it will bloom in Summer and Fall.  The flowers just started blooming on May 29th!  I was previously watering this plant every day which I think is why I did not get flowers in the Fall.    I will let you know if my theory works this year.
