Just like some other veggies, tomatillos can vary by size and color.
Top Ten List:
As for green tomatillos, here is my list:
1) Rio Grande Verde – this one is my favorite
2) Gigante Verde – this one is larger like the Rio Grande
3) Miltomate
4) Toma Verde
If you want other colors, then check out the following:
5) Purple – I typically grow this on each year
6) Purple Cioban – this one is only one inch in diameter
7) Mexican Strain – this one is yellow and savory and is 2 inches wide.
8) Amarylla Tomatillo – this variety is yellow but sweet.
The last two are considered ground cherries but they grow similar tomatillos and are cousins. Also, they taste similar to a pineapple.
9) Pineapple
10) Aunt Molly’s
