Since Romanesco (also known as a broccoflower) is an expensive veggie at the grocery store, it is worth growing in your backyard.  It is very yummy steamed and roasted and has a very unique & nutty flavor.
In some seed catalogs, you will find Romanesco with the cauliflower or broccoli.
You can find the variety called Veronica from High Mowing Seeds, Johnny’s Selected Seeds and Territorial Seed Company. It matures around 80 days.
A longer maturing Romanesco variety can be purchased from Burpee and Botanical Interests. This one matures within 100 days.
I am going to try growing the Veronica variety this year. I am definitely selecting this variety because of the shorter maturity date.
