Ball makes these herb cube trays but calls them Frozen Herb Starters.  I purchased my herb cube trays about 6 years ago and have put them to good use. They look like ice cube trays and are made from flexible, BPA-free silicone according to their website. There are two cube trays plus plastic lids in a package. The plastic lid is good for stacking in the freezer and avoiding any freezer burn.
What a great way to preserve your herbs, garlic and onion.
Steps for making Herb Cubes:
1) Clean your herbs,
2) Some herbs may need to be blanched first so they retain their color – we will discuss this more when we make some cubes!
3) Chop the herbs, garlic and onion.
4) There are 4 mediums typically used such as broth, butter, water or olive oil.
5) Combine the herbs, garlic and/or onion with the selected medium, place the combo in the cube trays and put the lid on it.
6) Put the trays in the freezer,
7) After the cubes are frozen, place them in a freezer bag or container and put them back in the freezer until you need them.
We will talk about my favorite combos soon!
One of my favorite gadgets for the garden is a Soil Thermometer.
