Even if you don’t like the powerful heat of habanero peppers, you can include them as an ornamental in your garden.
Features:
1) Love the pop of orange color in the garden! This variety starts out green and then turns orange.
2) Habaneros pack quite a bit of heat along with a citrus flavor.
3) The Scoville level for this variety is between 100,000 and 350,000 units – wow that is a lot of heat!
4) Habanero plants are very productive. My experience is that the smaller the pepper is, the more you get on each plant.
5) Each pepper will get up to 2 1/2 inches long.
6) Habanero plants will reach 2 ft. tall and about 1 1/2 ft. wide
7) The Habanero plant is a great candidate for container gardening.
8) This plant will mature in about 100 days.
Since habaneros are so hot, I usually pair them with mango, peach or pineapple tomatillo when making salsa. Please go slow with adding habanero to any recipe.
