Wanted to share an aerial view of my fall vegetable garden before I start pulling some of the plants. The flowers and the tomato, tomatillo and pepper plants are still looking good and producing since we’ve had a warm spell. The bean plants and okra are starting to slow up. I am currently growing arugula, bok choy, lettuce, carrots, beets, radishes and sweet potatoes for a fall harvest.
See the spot with the pretty pink and white prelude begonias. . .this will be where I will eventually plant my garlic for next year. The begonias love the elevated raised beds this year. I have never seen them get this big!
Below the grapevine but inside the fence, I have the grow bags. This is where the sweet potatoes, lettuce, bok choy and arugula are growing.
There are some things I’ll be tweaking next year. For instance, I am not going to put the smaller vining plants on the cattle trellis so there is more rooms for dried beans, tomatoes and winter squash. Also, I plan on adjusting some of my square foot gardening spacing. For instance, I don’t think there was enough room for some veggies. The smaller plants like peppers that I put in the elevated raised beds grew really well, but the bush beans and celery that I planted near the trellis in the lower raised beds did not.
