In the summer when the starlings are here, I can’t put out my other suet feeders like the upside down suet feeder. They attract not one but over 20 starlings. If you didn’t know this already, starlings hang out in big groups!  I am trying to attract woodpeckers not starlings.
I love Wild Birds Unlimited since they have given me some great problem solving ideas through the years! The Deluxe Suet Sandwich does the trick in deterring the starlings. You can fill the inside with bark butter or sliced suet that is approximately 3/8 inches thick.
The outside looks like bark and there are two screws so you can clean and refill. What a great find! We have four types of woodpeckers that like this feeder.
