What a beautiful flower – deep yellow/gold petals and black centers. I guess this is a Pittsburgh flower since our favorite pro teams are black and gold!
The formal name for this Black Eyed Susan is Rudbeckia f. Goldturm – now who is going to remember that name! I wished I would have realized how big it got before I put it in my herb garden. cThis type will grow to 2 feet high and wide.  I keep trimming it and it keeps growing so I would say it is pretty hardy.
It blooms from midsummer to early fall. It grows well in zones 3 thru 9 and likes dry or moist conditions. Also, it can be planted in the sun to partial shade.
There is a smaller version of the Black Eyed Susan called Rudbeckia Little Star that only grow to 14 inches tall. I haven’t tried to grow this type yet but I see them growing in the neighborhood.
