Alyssum is a great flower to border your vegetable beds or flower containers. Even though it looks so delicate, it will bloom from Spring until Frost – my kind of flower! It germinates between 5 and 15 days and tolerates dry conditions. Alyssum grows well in full sun to part shade.

I bought starter plants this year and they are still blooming as of Nov 4th in Pittsburgh. Now don’t get me wrong, they don’t look as full but not bad.

There are three annual types (white, purple and pink) that bloom from Spring until Frost. Because the flowers are so small, the seeds will be very small as well. I am going to try and save the seeds but I think they will be hard to see.
In case I don’t have any success with harvesting the seeds, I will order the following Alyssum seeds from www.botanicalinterests.com:Â Â Sweet Oriental Night (purple), Sweet Rosie O’Day (pink) and Sweet Tiny Tim (white).
