Melon Seeds

In the Johnny’s Selected Seeds 2017 Catalog, they have 10 types of melons – who knew there were so many! There is Ananas, Asian, Butterscotch, Cantaloupe, Charentais, Canary, Crenshaw, Galia, Honeydew and Piel de Sapo. Under Charentais there are two personal sized options called Escorial and Savor which both grow to 2 pounds. There are eight varieties of cantaloupe offered and the catalog includes a comparison chart so you know the number of days to mature, the size in pounds, the shape, the flesh color and disease resistance. There is one specialty one that caught my eye. . . it is called Butterscotch.

Watermelon Seeds

For watermelon, Johnny offers 5 seedless varieties including Amarillo which has yellow flesh and Orange Crisp which has orange flesh. As for the watermelon choices with seeds, they offer a personal sized watermelon called Little Baby Flower that can grow to 4 pounds. Another unique one is Sorbet Swirl which has red and yellow swirled flesh. In total there are 9 watermelon choices with seeds.

Johnny has 4 types of seeds for small and medium strawberries.  Also, they have quite a selection of bare roots (not seeds) for fruit plants including 9 varieties of strawberries, 8 varieties of raspberries, 1 thornless blackberry plant. In addition to the red raspberries, the choices include yellow and black.
